10 DIY ADVENT CALENDARS

As we are getting further to Christmas, I have been searching for the best ornaments to decorate our new house. Under this spirit, I have decided that this is a great opportunity for me to spend some creative time with my girls and design our advent calendar! As a kid I remember my father was bringing us chocolate filled advent calendars, which we adored! However, I prefer that my girls would not eat one chocolate for 25 days in a raw... instead, we could design an activity advent calendar and fill it with small "surprises", a nice idea to get the family doing things together during the holidays.
Therefore, I searched the web to find the perfect DIY advent calendar and here is some inspiration. Have a gander at, and help me to decide:) :

DIY Advent Calendars can also become thoughtful, early presents for your loved ones.. I am considering to prepare one for my husband, so stay tuned!

Do you have an Advent Calendar or tradition?  I would love to hear about it!

  7. Nice choices! Since ten years I fill little bags for my kids with chocolate and little surprises hanging down the stairs. But last year my daughter and my son decided that they are too "old" for this and they want to have ones with realy ugly stuff in it. I don't like them but I thought okay 24 days with kids who are in a sad mood is not the happy family life I prefer... This year I want to go back to the traditional chocolate stuff I got as a child from my parents. My teeth are excellent and 44 years old, so I think the candy will be okay. Wish you a beautiful and happy time. Your kids are so young and time will fly and believe me some day they will ask for the ugly stuff they'll see in the shops... Greetings from the neighborhood (Soest), Ria

  10. Hello Georgia,
These are wonderful ideas for Christmas. I love the Santa Christmas countdown. I have to have RED at Christmas time. You have such a lovely blog, and we would love it if you would follow us on google friend connect on our side bar. It's so nice to meet new friends, especially from Italy. I hope to visit there someday. Jess visited there and had a wonderful time.

    Have a sweet day.

  11. I always wished I started this tradition when my kids were little. They're teenagers now, but I think they may enjoy this.

  19. I've always enjoyed having an advent calendar (especially if it involves a chocolate every day!) These are all so cute. I especially like the little packages with pegs - cute! Great inspiration!
Thanks for your comment. You asked about the camel milk. Well, it tasted quite rich and creamy.

  20. Oh, dear, such a great idea!!! Thank you very much ;-) I love the Santa's beard, and I really think I'm going to do one alike right now! Tomorrow Melissa comes back from Potenza where she went with Antonio for a week, and I'd really like to countdown to Christmas with her! I don't think that little surprises or, even less, chocolates will fit her age, while Santa's beard is just perfect for her! XO XO XO!
